Cerith Wyn Evans - "... The Illuminating Gas"
Several institutions of international importance and important collective exhibitions have previously presented the exhibitions of this contemporary artist certainly worthy of note.
Below is a video presentation by the curators and a highly explanatory video of the power of this exhibition.
Entering you have a first impact with the "Raining Pillars", giant luminous columns that accompany the exhibition space creating a contrast with the darkness around which englobs the visitor and, together with the sounds, takes him on a journey into a different spatial and temporal dimension.
Complex compositions of neon and figures that change as the exhibition progresses end with an almost "circus" mix of chandeliers, rotating plants, hanging mirrors, words and sounds.
Strong and varied sensations that are worth experiencing personally by visiting the exhibition.
These are the words of the artist on the exhibition site.
"HangarBicocca - says Cerith Wyn Evans - has a secular grandeur that derives from the industrial or post-industrial concept of production, so there is a sort of consumption, of production, the history of these things ... the idea of the ghosts of the machines that were produced here: there is a sense of history with which one must confront. There is a need to be so big, you must always remember that it is as if you are inheriting a space that was not originally built for this "
